Only three European TATL airports were among World's Top15 busiest airports in 2009, in a list published by ACI.
Paris Charles de Gaulle is the biggest non-American airport on this list at number 7, followed by London Heathrow at number 12 and Frankfurt and number 13. Madrid's Barajas airport is at number 15 but this is mainly due to South American traffic.
The list was compiled using a total number of aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), with the busiest airport being Atlanta, Georgia (970,235 movements), while Paris had almost 50% less with 525,314.
