Continental Airlines is launching new flights between New York and Stuttgart from June this year. The daily service from Newark Liberty International to Stuttgart in Germany will start from June 9th.
It is the only direct service between New York and Stuttgart. This will be the fifth German city to be served by the new United, which was formed from the merger between Continental and United Airlines. The company already operates flights to Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich.
“We are excited about expanding our German route network further, and we are confident that it will be a success, even in this fuel environment, as we are providing the only non-stop link between New York and Stuttgart,” said John Slater, United’s Vice President of Sales – Americas.
The new service between New York and Stuttgart will be operated using a Boeing 757-200 plane, with 16 seats in Business Class.
Flights will depart from New York every day at 5:50 pm, arriving in Stuttgart at 8am the following day. The return flight will take-off from Stuttgart daily at 9:30 am and arrive in New York at 12:40 pm the same day.
Continental said that during the winter months, when there is less customer demand, they would reduce the number of flights to five days per week.
Passengers wanting to fly in style can experience Continental’s award-winning BusinessFirst service. When the new flights to Stuttgart are launched, all of the 757-200s will have the new flat bed seats, which recline to become fully horizontal. When the seats are in the fully flat position, they offer 6 and a half feet of sleeping space.
The new seat is one of the widest Business Class seats in the skies, measuring 25 inches when the adjustable armrest is positioned flush with the seat cushion.
The passenger can customize the seat position at the touch of a button, allowing them to sit in a position that is completely comfortable. The seat is enclosed in a privacy shell to offer isolation from other passengers.
For Business Class passengers who want to stay connected in the air, the seats are equipped with laptop power, USB plugs, iPod connectivity, and a headset.
Business travellers can watch on-demand entertainment on a large 15.4” video monitor. They can also choose dishes from gourmet menus and select from a list of award-winning wines and champagnes to accompany their meal.
Continental also provides trained Concierges to cater for passengers’ every need both before the flight and after the flight.
