Lufthansa wins praise for first-class toilet on A380
Okay, admit it – as plush as first-class seats and suites are, you're always a bit curious about the toilets.
Can they really be that much better? A bit more space, sure; brand-name soaps and lotions, without doubt.
But Lufthansa has set a new standard with the toilet in its first-class cabin aboard its all-new Airbus A380. The German carrier's superjumbo has a superloo created by Hamburg design firm Mueller/Romca.
The spacious bathroom has ample room for passengers, a large well-lit mirror, quality fittings and finish and the overall design aesthetic you'd expect for first class travel.
But one unique feature is the men's urinal, which is concealed behind a sliding shell. Mueller/Romca reasoned that this not only add conveniences for male passengers but it improves hygiene in the overall toilet area to the benefit of all passengers.
The toilet is even a finalist in this year's prestigious Crystal Cabin Awards for aircraft cabin products and concepts.
