Flying BusinessElite between New York and London usually goes for just under $5,000 total round-trip, but smart folks will use their SkyMiles, look for sales and deals, expense it *wink* and search around for alternate routing.
For example, flying to London via Boston right now in Business Class costs under $2,000; you've just got a pesky little layover in BOS. That's how every course in Delta's BusinessElite cabin, both ways was tested.
The favorite meal/course was, surprisingly, the lunch on the return flight to New York. It's a hot turkey and cheese sandwich, with turkey that's actually moist and carved, not in lunchmeat slices. There's something special about a tasty sandwich, made even more unique by the fact that it's being served on an airplane. To quote Liz Lemon from 30 Rock: "I believe that all anyone really wants in this life is to sit in peace and eat a sandwich."
The least favorite meal/course was breakfast on the way to London. It was yogurt, fresh fruit, a roll, tea and a bowl of granola with 2% milk. Just as we said above, the end of a long flight calls for something refreshing, and granola (even with milk) is really hard to chew with a dry mouth; the fruit should have been the focus instead of the granola. And—tell us if you disagree—2% milk and yogurt is a lot of dairy to stomach just after midnight according to your body and just around sunrise for London.
