Mad about Madrid? Dizzy about Dublin? New flight options
If you love Spain, and pine for the Old Sod, there are a couple of new ways to get there. US Airways just launched seasonal Charlotte flights to Madrid, and Charlotte flights to Dublin. Before, if you’re from the south, you’ve probably had to take Delta out of Atlanta to get to either of these European capitals.
Both 4,097-mile Charlotte flights to Madrid and 3,710-mile Charlotte flights to Dublin will operate all the way through the summer, until September 30.
US Airways flies a widebody Boeing 767-200ER on the Madrid run, and a narrowbody Boeing 757-200 ETOPs (that means extended-range twin-engine operations) on the Dublin route.
US Airways Charlotte flights to Madrid depart at 4:25 and arrive at 6:40 a.m. the following day. Return Madrid flights to Charlotte flights push back from the gate at 9:30 a.m. and arrive 12:55 p.m. the same day.
Charlotte flights to Dublin depart at 6:20 p.m., and get to the Irish capital at 6:50 a.m. the next day.
A Cheapflights tip: fight the urge to get to your hotel and go right to sleep. Stay awake the first day after your transatlantic trip and get to bed at a reasonable hour. This helps re-sync your internal clock more gently.
Dublin flights to Charlotte leave at 9:15 a.m. and arrive back in North Carolina at 12:40 p.m. This positions you for good connections to a slew of US Airways cities out of Charlotte.
