Sick passenger forces transatlantic flight Iceland stop

A United Airlines plane flying from London to San Francisco was forced to land in Reykjavik Friday evening after a passenger fell ill on board, the Icelandic Isavia airport authority said.

'There was a medical emergency, and the plane landed at the nearest airport,' Isavia spokeswoman Hjordis Gudmundsdottir told AFP.

The sick passenger was taken to hospital.

'The plane won't wait for the passenger... It will be taking off soon,' she added."
